When to Trust in Riches

I was reading Max Lucado's, Fearless, the other day when a practical thought of his brought clarity to a scripture with which we are all most familiar...
Paul wrote to Timothy, "Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment." (1 Timothy 6:17).

Lucado wrote, ""The United States economy endured ten recessions between 1948 and 2001...Every five years or so, the economy dumps its suitors and starts over.  What would you think of a man who did the same with women?" (p. 111).

That really puts it in perspective.  If we put our trust in riches, we are sure to be disappointed, and like the woman who continually chooses unfaithful men, we will be left wanting.

God is the Faithful One, put your hope in Him.

Q4U:  In a troubled economy, do you struggle to keep your trust in Him?
